COC January Post:Of all the troops, which one is the most valuable? What makes that warrior more valuable than others? How have you used that warrior?

  1. Honestly, the most useful troops I have seen have got to be the barbarians. This seems a bit counter-intuitive, as they are the first units you get in the game. But their fast spawn rates, relatively low elixir cost, and their power to completely overwhelm defenses in large numbers (Zerg Rush!!) makes them, in my opinion, the most valuable troops in my army.
I like the barbabrians for another reason: they are a good all-around unit. No matter the strategy, almost all of them can use a barbarian or two (or twenty). It can do basically anything. And while some later units may be better at doing specific things, that specialization can often be their downfall.
Maybe there is a better all-around unit later on that I haven't unlocked, but I've built my entire army solely off of archers and barbarians, and it's doing just fine.

    1. I agree, barbarians are very powerful. The one thing that archers have on them is the range attacks, but barbarians arguably make that up with they're higher health and damage. One piece of advise is to keep them away from splash defense, other then that they are awesome units.

    2. Brandon, have you tried using the giants to attack defenses? Sometimes just a couple can do allot of damage and will make the battle go by faster. But I think your strategy is a solid one. Keep up the good work, and may your kingdom prosper!

  2. In my experience from town hall one to nine, I have found that archers are the best troop. Archers are the third cheapest troop in the game, after barbarians and goblins. They also train up quickly, with the third best per-housing-space time, after barbarians and giants. The part that makes them most useful is their ranged attack.
Ranged attacks are very powerful in Clash of Clans, primarily because they allow troops to shoot over walls. Villages can only have two layers of walls guarding the core, until about town hall eight or nine depending on the setup. As of the July second update in 2014*, this means that your archers will only have to shoot through one wall before they can attack the core. Two strategies that work excellently with archers are garch** and barch**. In these strategies, the higher-health units take the brunt of the defensive fire while the archers deliver the majority of the damage.
One aspect I wonder about is how much archers have been indirectly nerfed*** with the recent Christmas update. The update includes a feature that makes archer towers shoot every 0.5 seconds, twice as fast as before. This may make it significantly easier for archer towers, which cover around 157 tiles each, to mow down large groups of archers. Instead of taking two seconds per archer, they may take one, or 1.5; making them 25% to 50% more deadly.

    Notes:
*This update included a feature where units would concentrate fire on one wall segment, making archers, barbarians, and goblins much more effective at taking down walls.
** Barch is a strategy where barbarians are placed in a ring around a village and followed up by archers. It is an excellent way of taking out collectors and getting fifty percent, and is my go-to strategy. Garch is a similar strategy where giants are deployed first, in place of barbarians. Garch is not as effective at getting fifty percent and is more expensive, but can provide deeper penetration than its aforementioned cousin.
*** Nerfed is a term which is used when a troop is weakened, sometimes directly (e.g. speed reduction) or indirectly (e.g. another mortar available to each town hall level).

    1. I definitely agree with you. Archers are a great troop which somehow find their way into everyone's army. They help take out Cc troops and pair up well with almost any troop. They are so versatile that they were voted as the best female troop over Valkyries on a supercell forum poll.(I'm sure you remember)

  3. It is hard to have one troop that is better than the other ones. When one troop is significantly better than the others it is overpowered and sometimes game breaking. Each troop has its own individual strengths and weaknesses. The best troop is a very situational thing, although there are units that work better than others in certain situations. When it comes to having the best troop for a cheap and quick attack barbarians or archers are the way to go. You may be asking, "but wait which one is better?" There really is no definite answer and it comes down to personal preference. If you like to just completely overwhelm the defenses, go with barbarians. If you want to pick off the outside buildings and collectors, use the archers. Although using one troop by itself does not make a very effective attack. Combining the archers and barbarians can make an amazingly effective attack. A good attack will use two troops that cover each others weaknesses with their strengths. With this in mind I do have a favorite attack combo. The best attack that I can think of is having the heavily armored units running in first and then backing them up with heavy firepower. The attack that accomplishes this very well is the Gowipe. Gowipe gets the name from the troops used in the attack. It consists of golems(go),wizards(wi), and pekkas(pe). In the attack you put the golems down first because they have an incredible amount of hit points. Then you put in the wizards to clear a path for the big guys, the pekkas. The pekkas then come through and deal high amounts of close range damage while the wizards deal high amounts of long range damage. This lets you easily three star low level bases and two star high level ones.

Supercell (the company that makes clash of clans) knows how powerful the Gowipe can be. I am wondering if they will do anything to make the Gowipe less effective. Could they make a defensive unit that specifically targets golems so it makes it harder for them to punch through?

    1. I think that Ethan is quite right. Although I prefer the barbarian, different troops can be more helpful than others in different situations. Many villages have a unique design therefore require a unique attack. Sometimes I will use strictly air troops, while other times I will use giants and goblins. In brief, it really comes down to personal preference.

    2. I agree with Ethan 100%. When I am attacking a village, I look at how it's set up first to see what troops would be of the most use. I agreed with Ethan when he said it really comes down to personal preference. Some people prefer to use all ground troops while other people like to use air troops. I think your strategy is great.

    3. I agree with you Ethan. You sound like an experienced "Clasher", so you know the strengths and weaknesses of almost all the troops I am sure. What is the GoWipe?

    4. Perhaps it is called that because you are going to GoWipe the floors with the enemy? Anyways, I agree with all your points, but perhaps Supercell haven't nerfed the strategy because limiting the powers of any one unit would make the thing it counters more powerful.

  4. In Clash of Clans one can use many different troops to attack other villages. All troops have some sort of unique quality. Some attack anything, and others attack defenses. In my experience, I have found the barbarians to be most useful. Although I haven't unlocked all the troops to entirely assess their abilities, the barbarian has prevailed the most in battle. They don't take a long time to train and one can use allot of them to attack. Barbarians don't cost much either. I would say that deploying them all at once in two different spots, offers the most damage and progression in the battle. Individually, barbarians don't produce much damage, but as a group, they can be very effective and efficient. I realize however, that barbarians can't win a battle on their own. I would say that they are great at getting the battle started and opening up things for other troops. My second favorite troop would be the "Air Bombers." After the Barbarians have taken out the air defense, I send these troops to finish the battle. They are very affective and do allot of damage but they can easily be defeated by archer towers or air defense. All in all, this game has many different strategies and tactics one can use. I am wondering if the higher level troops are allot better, or do they have some down sides? I am interested in finding the answer to this question.

    1. Barbarians are great troops in groups as they can overwhelm a cannon and such defenses, but at higher levels there are more splash damage defenses that can to out whole groups of barbarians in matter of seconds. Even level 7 barbarians still don't stand a chance. So, they are a great troop to use at lower levels, but not at higher levels. Regarding your question, higher level troops in my opinion, are better if you just looked at stats and not money. For example, one of my favorite armies is the all dragon raid. With proper technique and strategy, they can take out almost any base, but they come with a hefty price. 11 dragons can cost me around 500k elixer to train, so barbs and archers at the troops to go for when farming.

    3. Jordan, this is pretty much my thinking as well. The Barbarians as a group are an intimidating force. Since I do not have the Air Bombers, they are something to look forward to unlocking!

  5. I have found the barbarians very helpful. They are very inexpensive, and get the job done. As I have continued to upgrade the town hall in my village, I have collected more powerful troops. The giant is very powerful. Even though it's more expensive than the barbarians, you need less of them to cover the same amount of ground. I prefer the barbarians over the giants because they are cheaper, train quickly, and you have a lot of them.
When I attack a village I usually use a mixture of giants, barbarians, and archers. The barabarians are very fast, and you don't need at lot of experience/strategy to use them. You can release them pretty much anywhere, and they seem to get the job done. To use the giants and archers to the best of there abilities, you need to have good placement and a strategy.
As I continue to play Clash of Clans, I want to continue to upgrade my troops. I also want to gain some more attacking strategies.

    1. I have also found that barbarians make great troops and I tend to use them a lot also. One downside I have found to them is that since they are the first troops you get when you join the game, they become almost useless once you attack supper high-level bases. Even if you upgrade them they are still kinda risky to bring into a high-level battle. I think upgrading your barracks and discovering what other troops there are could benefit future attacking stategies.

    2. I agree with Mariana. Barbarians are extremely helpful against low-level bases, but my other troops, although more expensive, are the best for heavily defensive bases.

  6. There are a variety of troops to choose from in Clash of Clans. Each troop has its set of own skills that make it unique. For example, some troops may have high DPS, but low health or vise-versa, but there is always a troops that is preferred. My personal favorite would be the wizard.
The wizard is the troop which is shown at the very start of the game. Right off the bat, you can tell how powerful it will be later on in the game by the Dps it does the the goblin TH. Once the wizard is acquired, it can be fit into multiple armies such as GoWipe and healer/giant/wizard combo. The main purpose of these armies is to keep wizards behind tanks like golems, giants, pekkas, and even dragons. While the tanks soak up all the damage, the wizards follow destroying everything in its path within a matter of seconds. As if wizards weren't already strong enough, a rage spell will create havoc and certainly send the opponent into a mode of rage. The wizard's stats certainly contribute to its greatness, but the design also makes them look appealing. Their robe changes color with almost every level and at level six, they shoot a mix of a fireball and a lightning bolt.
Every since I started the game, I was always recommended by other clanmates to get wizards. Since then I've been able to master their AI and use it to my advantage. My favorite strategy is a simple giants, healers, and wizard combo. With a healing spell and 2 rage spells, certain destruction is to come to those who step in my way.

  7. One thing I love about Clash of Clans is that there is such a variety of troops you can buy. Each charcacter is unique in its own way. They each have their own skills that become useful in different situations. Out of the characters I have unlocked, I would say the archers are my favorite.

From attacking different clans/goblins I have personally found that the archers are very helpful. They aren't that expensive and when you want to upgrade them, the upgrades are very cheap. Since I have a laboratory, I have chosen to upgrade the archers a few times. I have found each time I upgrade them, they become more and more helpful in attacks. Whenever I buy troops, I always find myself buying archers the most. I have always loved the archers and that will probably never change.

When I first downloaded this game, I had a lot of people telling me that the archers became very powerful once you upgraded them to level three. I have already completed this and was pleased with the results. As I advance through this game I hope I can level up my archers a few more levels and see what this unlocks. I also hope I can discover more characters and see what skills they possess. I wonder if there are any characters that are very powerful and virtually unstoppable in battles.

    1. I think it is a great strategy to a large number of one kind of troop. I also use this strategy. I was not aware that you could upgrade different troops, so thank you for that!

  8. The Barbarians are the most useful troop. They are cheap to train, train fast, and are also the first character that you unlock. Also, I like the way that they look, they remind me of a viking.

I think what makes this troop more valuable than others is versatility. The Barbarians can pretty much anything that an opponent throws its way. A hoard of Barbarians is a hard thing to stop, especially Barbarians that are leveled up to level three or four.

I use Barbarians by training around 75 of them, and then two wallbreakers. Then, I use the wallbreakers on either sides of the map, and spam down the rest of my troops. A huge group of Barbarians does immense damage, and I usally 100 percent my weaker opponents, and get 2 stars against stronger ones. All in all, the Barbarian is the best troop, at least for my play style.

  10. Out of the few troops that I have unlocked, goinshave been the most useful and reliable. Unlike giants, they take up only one space in my army camp, and unlike archers, seem to be stronger when it comes to withstanding defenses for a long time. Barbarians are useful in bulk because they can work quickly together to destroy villages, but goblins are the best if you are interested in maximizing gold and elixir balances. They are also twice as fast as barbarians, which allows them to fully utilize the amount of time in a battle. Gold and elixir are what you really want in the end of a battle anyway, because they can be used to upgrade your village. Higher level troops and defenses lead to more trophies in defense and in attacking. In short, goblins only lead to a better village.

Typically, in a battle, I use twenty to thirty goblins. Once any walls are destroed, I will send them all in at the same time. After they are all sent in, they separate into their own same groups to be as efficient as possible. Obviously, some have to be sacrificed to distract the defenses while gold and elixir are being collected. This strategy has been mostly successful in the past.

One thing that I am worried about is the amount of gold I am able to actually keep. It seems that even though I have the goblins to collect gold, every time I am attacked, all the loot is gone. This a huge problem right now because I am saving for a higher level town hall to finaih building my surrounding wall defense. Any advice on how to save gold is highly appreciated!

  11. Of the few troops I have available to me, I would choose the archers as my favorite. They can do some decent damage from a distance and I have always had good experience. Whenever I am stocking up on more troops, I always make sure to have at least half of them archers. When a barbarian goes out on his mission, he always goes all the way up the enemy without thinking about strategy. While I admire their courage, I have to say that cleverness is a better quality when it comes to war. My level 2 archers are always staying at an appropriate distance, while at the same time, destroying the property of my enemies. This proves useful for one valuable reason, they last longer. The longer your troops last, the more damage done. Thus making them the most important warriors.
When I approach a village, I put a little more than half of my archers in the same spot. They are better in bigger forces. Every time one dies, I replace it with another archer. Of course, I do this when I get the walls down first. I win almost every attack I command, therefore, making the archers the most important warrior.
I still keep getting attacked. Every I go on my clan, I see that I have lost trophies. No mater what my defenses are, they get breached. This is obviously a problem so does anyone have any advice on how to defend my village better?

  12. I only have three troops available to me currently, as that has not been my objective. However, I use my archers the most because they are more effective at destroying from a distance and last longer.
I tend to train only around five barbarians and around three giants, with the rest of my troupes consisting of archers. I use barbarians as sacrifices (haha) and my giants to destroy items such as canons. The archers I used both to destroy defenses as well as to collect loot. I use archers over barbarians because even though they cost more, they last a lot longer in battle making it worth it. I use archers over giants because they take up less space in my camps and also because I only really need a few giants for them to be effective.

  13. My most powerful units are my wizards. They can handle enough damage and can deal a lot of that damage. Their downside is their cost, at 1000 elixir each and taking up 5 (or 10?) unit space.

Archers don't deal as much damage, Barbarians aren't far away, balloons have low health, and the giants are slow.

I usually use giants as meat shields, then have my balloons out, then send in my wizards after everyone else. Wizards are great for dealing damage quickly, and for the 50% victory.

  14. I've been looking at the stats of each type of troop and I think that the barbarians are the best. They are cheap, don't take long to train, and destroy town halls very quickely. I generally skip a place to attack until there is a town hall mostly on the outside and then send 20-30 berbarians in that direction. They have their negatives, but in my opinion compared to the other troops their negatives are worse. The barbarians are less of a worry. Each time I leveled up my barracks I was excited to use the new troop I would get but it would disappoint me when it died quickly while attacking one certain kind of thing. The barbarians have nevered failed me.
